Kewa Pueblo formerly Santo Domingo Pueblo - Madeline "Maggie" Garcia learned the traditional way of making jewelry at a young age.  After college, she worked for the government for 20 years before moving back to the pueblo and working for the tribal school system.  Now that she has retired, Maggie has returned to making jewelry and intergrates new materials with traditional styles.

Purple Spiny & Turquoise Cross Necklace

The 26" long necklace has three strands of dark brown shell heishi and purple spiny oyster shell beads with hand carved turquoise cross bead accents.  The turquoise beads are blue/green with brown matrix.  The necklace is finished with sterling silver beads and a sterling silver hook and eye clasp.  Each strand measures approximately 1/4" wide.

Turquoise & Orange Spiny Necklace

The 29" long necklace has five strands of turquoise and orange spiny oyster shell rondells with light brown and white shell heishi.  The turquoise beads are blue/green with black matrix.  The necklace is finished with silver rope trimmed smooth sterling silver cones and a silver hook and eye clasp.  Each strand measures approximately 1/4" wide.
